Meet Our Attorneys

Emily Vowell graduated from the University of Tennessee, located in her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee in 2004. Upon obtaining her undergraduate degree in Marketing from the College of Business, Emily attended the Florida Coastal School of Law where she earned her law degree in 2007.

While in law school, Emily served as a legislator in the Student Bar Association, volunteered with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, and worked as a legal intern with a civil litigation firm.

Admitted to the Florida Bar in 2007, Emily worked as a civil litigation associate in Jacksonville, Florida, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury and business litigation cases. During that time she was a member of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, the Jacksonville Justice Association, the Florida Justice Association, and the American Association for Justice.

Emily obtained membership to the Georgia Bar in 2009 and moved to Tifton, where she joined the Tifton Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s office as an Assistant Public Defender. As a public defender, Emily represented hundreds of indigent clients charged with felony offenses ranging from theft to murder. Emily worked diligently for her clients both inside and outside the courtroom, understanding that to each client, their case was the most important. Her passion and drive are now evident in her work at Wilmot Powell where her main areas of focus are criminal defense, family law and civil litigation.

Emily is licensed to practice in Georgia and Florida. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Georgia Bar Association, and the Tifton Bar Association. Emily serves on the Board of Directors for the Wiregrass Farmer's Market and is a member of the Tifton Junior Woman’s Club- a service organization that is committed to bettering the Tifton community.
